Changelog
Where release notes live, how channels work, and how to verify what you are running.
nala is in free preview and shipping fast. The public record of released versions is the site changelog, generated from the product Keep a Changelog file.
Release notes
- On the web: /changelog lists every released version (Unreleased is not shown). It is built from the product
CHANGELOG.md, not hand-copied marketing text. - In the app: Settings → About shows your version and the release notes for any pending update, with a one-click install after SHA-256 verification.
- On the command line:
nala update --checkreports what is available without installing it.
Channels
| Channel | Cadence | For |
|---|---|---|
preview | Unsigned developer preview | Current default — manual updates |
stable | Production-ready | Will become the default once signing is in place |
Switch in Settings → Update Channel. The change picks which updates are offered next; it does not reinstall on the spot.

nala version
nala doctor
The doctor reports the exact build, daemon health, provider probes, and signing state: the two facts any bug report should lead with.
A note on the preview
Preview builds are unsigned and update manually. Signing, notarization, and silent update replacement are on the roadmap, and the Installation page will change when they land. For what is coming beyond that, the site FAQ keeps an honest roadmap: a nala-operated server side (cloud sync, team features, an inexpensive custom coding model), always framed as future, with local-first as the permanent foundation.
